DESCRIPTION:
"Student" according to C0nsumer. I purchased this book as the hands on experience for. Dr Boyle's Networking and Servers course at the University of Utah. The labs are excellent as they teach you basic knowledge of dozens of programs that are commonly used by network administrators and professionals. After doing most of the labs I have substantially added skills to my resume that have greatly increased my visibility to employers. I applied to five network administrator positions and each of them gave me a call, even though I have no work experience. My resume was impressive enough with the skills that these labs added. That is why this book. zOut of date and link are broken I had to use this for a networking admin class at FSU. The dude who wrote it is a professor there so that's the real reason we HAD to buy it. I don't have a beef with the premise of the book. When the information wasn't obsolete and the links weren't broken it was a good book that opened my eyes to a lot of useful tools and concepts in MIS.However as a Dr. of MIS I would think the author would have a little more foresight and be savvy enough to NOT hard code links into a book. He should have used aliased links that forwarded the user to active versions of the links.UPDATE: when I bough this (1/13) it was onl. owner said Out of date and link are broken. "More Hands on Experience and Resume Building from Dr. Boyle" according to Adam West. Just like his book on Information Security, Dr. Boyle does not fail to please. This book adds a ton of skills to one's resume, and exposes readers to a ton of different networking applications that build real skills and experience.Sitting in a classroom does not teach students almost anything that they can use in the real world. That is one of the major problems with school these days. This book is there to fill the void and help students prepare for their jobs.It is safe to say that these days, most students will not be able to say they have hands-on experience with running networks within OS Virtualization,
Gain hands-on experience working with networking tools.Applied Networking Labs guides readers through the installation and basic operation of software used in the field of networking. This book also provides hands-on experience using various networking tools.
