DESCRIPTION:

Mine has been a life too busily occupied in other matters for me to cultivate the graces of authorship; and the best I can hope to do is to relate my story with simplicity and truth, and then let it find its fate, whether it be praise or condemnation. If I expected by this story of my adventures to achieve any literary reputation, I might be disposed, on account of its many faults of style, to ask the indulgence of those who will do me the honor to undertake its perusal. Debra Mullins said Interesting but long. I like the way she writes using the language of the day but the story is long, not very believable and doesn't give much detail when describing what occurred.. Interesting reading I did not know what to expect. But, I am not a historian by trade, but I found her information to be so specific to the era and events. I am intrigued at how at such a young age, Loreta was so astute and precocious. As a Latina, I pondered even further the role of Latinos in the United States - Loreta was Cuban who traveled to the United States in the 1800s and her father had lands in Texas - that blew my mind! I recommend this book.. Interesting Interesting but slow.
