"College Jazz History course textbook" according to John C. Card. This was a required book for a college course, but I have found it to be interesting and well written. I purchased the 3-CD package, which I thought would also come with the demonstration CD (necessary for my class) - but it does not. So if you are looking at this for a college course, add the demonstration disc as well.
