Have your device in hand as you read this book This was an informative book. At first, I was hesitant to read it on my iPad but I'm glad I did. The links throughout the book allowed me to easily access links referenced by the author for further viewing. Denise Johnson has included a lot of information, tips, and suggestions to assist educators in utilizing technology in their classrooms. I appreciated the lesson plans being differentiated for lower and upper grades. There is A LOT of tools within this book, so no one should be at a lost for resources. T. A great read for effectively using technology! srweaver This book is my favorite kind of professional development book to read--the kind where I walk away with things that I want to immediately implement in my classroom. Let me start by saying that I don't have a ton of technology in my classroom--I have a teacher computer, an overhead, and two Ipads I recently purchased. I say this only because this book is not advocating that you go out and buy the latest and greatest in technology. Instead, it offers teachers ways to implement technology into their classrooms. This book is a gem! It not only reviews the grassroots of what we as literacy teachers water each day in each child, such as fluency, vocabulary, reading and writing, it also grows and nurtures our understanding of the expanded modes of literacy through clever and insightful incorporation of digital tools to enhance learning and engagement.
