I really enjoy his perspective and respect for the plants and wildlife as you'd expect from Native American culture. He seems very connected with it all. However, I wouldn't necessarily use this as a field guide as its a semi full size book, not convenient but I will keep it in my go-bag anyway as if I run across any of the few plants mentioned, it has quite a bit of detailed specific information on it..
