As advertised. great collection of essays Berrett Rice It's hard to give a book that is essentially written by Plato, Aquinas, Augustine, Luther, and others anything less than five stars. The introductory chapter is an excellent review of the subject of just war and pacifism, and the essays themselves are, of course, classic. The previous reviewer is correct that many of the essays are very difficult to read, but isn't that what we should expect from some of the greatest minds in history? The essays themselves have already stood the test of time, so the only real question is: Did the. "A worth-while introduction" according to Will Jerom. War and Christian Ethics is a compilation of texts in the Christian tradition, spanning the time from Augustine to the current day. There are some background texts on justifications for war from Plato and Cicero. On the whole the book is a valuable collection of classic excerpts on the reasons and justifications for going - or not going - to war.
